The persimmon is a fall fruit native to China. Persimmons made their way to Korea and Japan centuries ago and were only introduced to the United States in the 1800s. Not generally recognized for the fragrance properties, persimmons have an unusual jammy-sweet aroma with an occasional tannic note. |
