Orange

The orange is a native of the Far East but found its way to Europe in the 16th century and then on to the Americas and Africa through exploration. The oil of the sweet orange has a very peel-like aroma, crisp and tenacious, without the tart note found in lemon and grapefruit. Natural orange fragrance is thought to be an anti-depressant and mildly sedative, in contrast to the energizing properties of lemon and grapefruit. It provides a fresh, sweet-citrus note to fragrance blends.
