White Musk |
|
![]() |
Musk was originally obtained from a gland in the abdomen of the male Himalayan musk deer, driving the animal to near extinction. Fortunately synthetic alternatives, known as white musk, are available to mimic this rare fragrance. The oil from ambrette seeds is also a common substitute for true musk. Musk has a very animal-like quality that is rich, sweet and persistent. The Endangered Species Act of the United States protects against use of natural musk. |
