Benzoin

Benzoin is a natural gum resin from species of the Styrax tree, native to Southeast Asia. The resin is collected from from cuts in the bark of the tree. Originally a milky-white substance the resin solidifies when exposed to air and sunlight. Benzoin has a sweet balsamic, vanilla-like aroma that is considered soothing and comforting.
